Reading: We are in the last part of our Fiction unit on Determining Theme.  We finished our class novel, Brendan Buckley's Universe and Everything In It.    The students also recently completed their NWEA winter assessment.  We are testing for their Winter F and P reading levels as well.  You can support your child by asking them to tell you if a character learned a lesson in their nightly reading and what message is the author trying to tell them.

Math: We have started our first fraction unit on equivalent fractions and comparing fractions.  It's a perfect time to show your child how your need to measure ingredients for baking with fractions of a cup.  Also, try cutting a cake, lasagna or pizza into different fractions.
